Nadere omschrijving

Van een verlaging van de belasting op thee verwachtte men een lagere theeprijs en afname van de smokkel, die volgens Richard Twining,Observations on the Tea and Window Act, and on the tea trade, London 1785, de helft van de aanvoer bedroeg. De East India Company, de enige wettige importeur, toont het resultaat met veilingprijzen voor thee voor en na invoering van de Tea and Window Tax in juli 1784.
